THESIS ABSTRACT

Student achievement is influenced by internal and external factors. External factors include the environment in which students are located, whether within the family, school and society. In the family, parents play an important role in improving student achievement. However, the neighborhood also affect the accurate assessment of the performance improvement.
This study aims to (1) investigate the influence of a significant association between neighborhood on social studies achievement. (2) investigate the influence of a significant association between parental education on social studies achievement. (3) investigate the influence jointly between the neighborhood and parental education on social studies achievement.
The approach used in this study is a quantitative approach to correlative descriptive research. The population in this study are all all students in SDN Semanding 1. The sample in this study was determined by taking 90% of the population. While the techniques and instruments of data collection in this study are (1) observation, documentation, and questionnaires. Analysis of the data using statistical analysis by multiple linear regression analysis using the t test and F test.
The results of this study indicate that (1) there is significant between neighborhoods on student achievement in SDN Semanding 1 Pucanglaban Tulungagung. This is demonstrated by the significant value of t is smaller than α (0.000 <0.05) and t count greater than TTable (4.900> 2.000), (2) There is a significant effect between parental education on student achievement in SDN Semanding 1 Pucanglaban Tulungagung. This is demonstrated by the significant value of t is smaller than α (0.003 <0.05) and t count greater than T Table (3.013> 2.000), (3) There is a significant effect simultaneously (together) between the neighborhood , and parental education on student achievement in SDN Semanding 1 Pucanglaban Tulungagung. This is demonstrated by the significant value of F is smaller than α (0.000 <0.05) and Fhitung greater than F table (25.801> 8.570).
